TYPD, one of the departments of Taoyuan City Government, takes charge of Taoyuan’s police affairs, namely the maintenance of public order, the protection of social security, the prevention of all hazards, and the promotion of people’s well-being. In addition to Commissioner, there are three Deputy Commissioners, one Chief Secretary, and five Senior Inspectors.
TYPD is structured around eight divisions (Foreign Affairs, Prevention and Control, Logistics, Training, Public Order, General Affairs, Public Security, and Crime Prevention), eight offices (Accounting, Information Management, Public Relations, Personnel, Internal Affairs, Secretariat, Legal Affairs, Civil Service Ethics), three centres (Command and Control, Forensic Science, and Civil Defense Operations), and six corps (Criminal Investigation, Traffic, Special Police, Juvenile Delinquency Prevention, Women & Children Protection, and Rapid Transit). In addition, there are 10 police precincts, namely Taoyuan Police Precinct, Zhongli Police Precinct, Yangmei Police Precinct, Dayuan Police Percinct, Daxi Police Precinct, Pingjhen Police Precinct, Bade Police Precinct, Guishan Police Precinct, Lujhu Police Precinet, Longtan Police Precinct.
