11 vehicles fail to yield to children at zebra crossing
-
Two children in Taoyuan had to give up on crossing the road after more than 10 cars failed to yield to them. The two schoolchildren were at a zebra crossing and were only able to make it halfway across the road before getting blocked by incoming traffic. Though they tried to catch the attention of drivers by raising their arms, they were ignored and were left with no other choice but to turn back. Let’s hear from a local police officer.

We will review the footage to identify the vehicles involved. After verifying their license plate numbers, we will issue fines if they did indeed violate traffic rules. We will enforce the law strictly.

They don’t stop, usually. They only stop very, very rarely. It’d be better if there were traffic lights. If I can’t get across, I try to go to a spot with traffic lights. If there aren’t any, I just have to keep watching the traffic, and when I see the lights down the road turn red, and the cars stop, that’s when we make our way across slowly.
The video was shared on the internet by an influencer called “cheap,” who lamented that the kids had to turn around after being ignored by the car drivers. From January to April this year, Taoyuan has recorded a total of 1,724 incidents in which drivers failed to yield to pedestrians.Source from:Formosa News
