Cram school teachers blocks traffic to let schoolkids jaywalk
-
A video of a group of elementary school students jaywalking has caused an uproar in Taiwan. A scooter driver passing Tainan’s Shinshi District recently witnessed adults blocking off a busy road to let primary schoolkids jaywalk. The principal of a local primary school has clarified that the adults are not affiliated with school, but rather with cram schools nearby. The principal said he’ll make sure to remind them to obey traffic rules, for the sake of the children’s safety.
Just a stone’s throw away from the zebra crossing, a person is seen holding up a placard to block the road. Then, a group of schoolkids lined up on the side of the road jaywalks to the other side.

There are lots of cram schools here, and lots of children. It’s really quite a sight to behold. There are adults driving to work at the Southern Taiwan Science Park and kids walking right in front of them on the same lane. Scary!
The principal of the local primary school says it’s not them, but crams school nearby that are letting kids jaywalk. The principal says he’ll ask cram schools to stop doing that.

We have teachers and volunteers ushering kids to safely cross the road. Then, it’s the cram school teachers that take them over. We will remind the relevant cram schools nearby of road safety regulations.

If there is a pedestrian crossing, it is prohibited for pedestrians to jaywalk within 100m away from the pedestrian crossing.
Even though jaywalking is against traffic rules, vehicles should still make way for pedestrians if they choose to do so.Source from:Formosa News
